Just sharing some shots I took during the 2nd ISM Invitational Swim Meet last weekend. I only caught the last 20 minutes of the event, and this is why most of the shots are of the freestyle stroke.
Nevertheless, I hope you like them. Feel free to comment. Thanks!:)

Nice ones, it's good to see sports shots other than ball sports for a change. I would like to see pictures of the swimmers as they flip back for the return lap?

Nice set! You really got them frozen on the 1st pic you posted.
Mind if you share EXIF data on that? Thanks!

Thanks for viewing guys.
To Rey: Turns are also good to shoot, but not too good with freestyle. Breastroke and Butterfly offer the best opportunities for shots during turns. I'll post some when I get them.:)
To Denmark: Mostly Shutter Priority Mode between 1/400 to 1/640 and between f4 and f7.1. ISO 800. No flash. Daylight WB. Canon 400D with 70-200 f2.8L IS.
To Sherwin: I believe IS manila won the overall plum.
Thanks again!

@jijo
Thanks! Just wondering why your ISO was set at 800? Was it kinda dark and gloomy that day? Or it's really advised to use higher ISOs for sports photog? I wanna cover stuff like these kasi. TIA.

ISO determines your camera sensor's sensitivity to light (but I am sure you know this already). Therefore, you adjust it depending on the availability of light. In the case of my shots, they were taken late in the afternoon with cloud covering and the sun going down already. ISO 800 was the level that allowed me to shoot from the location I was at, at the shutter speed and apeture that I needed, to get the results I wanted.
There are no set ISO settings for sports photgraphy. Just simply use the ISO level that will allow you to get the shutter speed (for freezing or otherwise) and aperture (for blurring or otherwise) you need so that you will get the results you want. If 800 is not enough then I just look for another POV or angle to get more light. I seldom go up to 1600.
That's all.:)

Sorry for the OT: hi jijo, do you like taking photos of swimming events? i'm a swimmer and i kinda saw some photographers in last year's POF swimming competition, maybe your one of them. hehe anyway, maybe you'd like to check out our competition in Ateneo de manila. it'll be a dual meet, ADMU vs UP diliman. i'll try to shoot too if i have time in between my events. hehe :)
