Hmm, since the question was posted in the Canon forum, I would think Elise wants a Canon... I say get a 400D or 350D with your budget. :)

Welcome to DPP Elise. I agree with Randy, a 400D or 350D would probably suit your immediate needs. Enjoy and good luck.

Hey Jb if most of your friends and family bought a Canon, then i suggest that you buy a Canon camera. If they bought a Nikon then buy a Nikon camera. Advantages? You can borrow lens from them :)

I agree on this kasi with the same camera marami magtuturo sa yo on how to set your camera. Then in terms of accessories madami ka mahihiraman. In case also gusto mo ibenta gears mo pag nag upgrade ka maaaring may bumili.

get an eos 500D with ef-s 18-200 IS lens; by february, your budget of 50K might be able to handle it (via reduced prices or mint used units)

Get a 40D if they're still on stock. It's more back to the buck.

Best try looking for a camera that works for you. Weight might be important to you, so big cameras like the 40D just won't do, so if you're looking for a Canon, the xxxD and 1000D are the best bets for you. You really can go wrong with a Canon or a Nikon, so choose one that you're comfortable with.

Your priorities are also important. Do you want to have a cheaper body with some spare budget to buy gear and accessories or attend photography workshops? Or do you want an expensive body and can wait to buy lenses and other things at a later time?

I agree also with Randy. 400D is already a good camera to start with then get a flashgun or lens.

Guys you're mixing it up. Randy's post was dated Sept 2006 :) and I think that JB, the one revived this thread is just saying Hi and not asking for any advice on what camera model to get.
