Nice Aaron, I'd love to try shooting using strobes. How difficult is it to set up?

the client wanted something with harsh shadows and dark backgrounds. i guess he wanted to add something to the background.
what was crazy was in club 650 and shooting during the morning, was that the ambient light would change dramatically within seconds and sometimes mess up the metering.
it was an interesting project to do, because when i shoot sports i raraly use the fast fps. its mostly a one shot deal. i guess thats where the training from film comes through. so the strobes were put to good use. and it also meant having really long extension cords.

I think these are wonderful shots of the subjects...so much better than how I shoot. The subjects' actions are quite dynamic, but what throws me off is the background/venue.
I'm sure you had no choice on the venue.
I feel that the background is not right for the subject....unless it was the venue that was the primary purpose for the shoot. If that were the case, the venue was not represented well.
The background is kind of distracting due to its drab nature. Very dark, and very confusing as well.
I don't mean any disrespect. Just my opinion.

Yeah, i didnt like the venue that much.
But the art director told me that they'll put vector backgrounds instead of using the
location background. it does seem so empty.
