I was on my way to work this morning thinking about the new DPP issue. Wondering if its on National Bookstore's shelves na here in Festival Mall.
So many things flowed inside my head which I will not share anymore but I just wanted to throw this question to everybody.

What made you start this hobby/profession/addiction?

--> I was 11 (15 yrs ago), and was spending the summer in Laguna. One afternoon, while I was with my father, we notice how beautiful the sky was. All sorts of colors and shades... It was just fantastic. That time I wish I had a camera. I have never seen something that beautiful up until now. That spectacular site was something I wish I could have shared with others... It was really beautiful... plus my dad is also into photgraphy, and my brother... I think this time, after 15 years of trying to take it seriosly, I will. now... even with a borrowed camera...

for me...

christmas vacation 2003...i went on a road trip with a friend to see ilocos. borrowed my mom's pentax film point-and-shoot, for memories and "been-there" shots. on my last day, the day i was visiting paoay church, i was horrified to learn that mom's camera was missing from my bag. dunno. probably stolen in my hotel room in laoag the night before...

i went home on new year's eve. and, after enduring a stupendous scolding from the mother, i was "coerced" to buy a 3.2 megapixel digicam... a powershot A70. it was worth 15K. my mom's pentax, after depreciation, is worth 3K. hehehe.

i learned to climb mountains that year....and the rest is history...

I was into painting, sketching and writing... But I've always felt that though my pen was definitely mighty in these fields... I had hard time finishing my pieces and filling up pages with my thoughts... So I redirected my creative energies towards design and photography, in the hopes that somehow I would be at peace with my inner self and feel that sense of accomplishment in every composition that I create...

I picked up my first SLR or DSLR, if you will, back in Feb and got hooked. I tried this and that and after a couple of months fiddling with it, I decided wildlife photography is the way to go for me.

My siblings and I grew up with my mom trying to take group photos while saying, "compress..." or her arranging us by height as to center the tallest person... eventually we decided to take the pictures for her out of impatience, but still with a lot of her criticism.

Eventually when we got our first digital camera, which my mom didn't even bother to learn, we took the reigns and started taking all the pictures at home.

It was only in 2003 when I went to Europe with my officemates that I noticed I took a lot of shots of other people and scenes without me in them! I realized that I preferred to compose the shots than to be in them. When we got back, I posted the pictures on the server, and next thing you know, people were asking me for copies, and the rest is history! Bought my first DSLR last July from my upgrade from a prosumer Lumix FZ30.

We've come a long way from film!

I saw a Nikon SLR on sale while abroad on a company trip. I bought it and fell in love with photography since. Now it has become my main source of income, and being a lawyer is just....a hobby.:D

Been Doing a regular Point & Shoot Photography since 1995 with Old Range Finder, then switch to Nikon CoolPix in 1999 & switch again to Nikon D70s in late 2004, I'm a very active Mountain climber, and I do really exposed to a place that hardly people went to. Start Climbing 1995 and start Diving 1999 I really like to record some of the crazy things that I did while I'm still young, so at the age of 50, I can share to kids and Prove to my Kids that, I'VE BEEN THERE THAN DONE!!!!!!!!.
