Is there a recommended film for shooting with flash or under studio lights? I don't know if the usual film that goes well with daylight will perform well under this lighting. I'm thinking of bringing Fuji Reala and/or 160S. TIA...

before the advent of digital, my studios exclusively used PORTRA VC 160

Thanks, sir Basil. Too bad we don't seem to have Portra available locally. The Kodak film that's readily available in the stores are Gold, Colorplus and Max; then on the Fuji side there's Fujicolor, Superia, Reala and Pro 160S.
I've heard so many good things about Portra that I'm wondering why local stores don't keep stock. Maybe I'm not looking in the right places? Or there's not enough demand? Whenever somebody brings in hard-to-find film at lomomanila.ph it's gone very quickly even when the price isn't cheap, so its hard to believe this is due to lack of demand.
Anyway, I'll try to shoot with what I have tonight and see what happens. The info I gather here are for future reference. Thanks again! :)

Just photolabs in the malls and sometimes Hidalgo.

Oops! I just read at the Supply Side thread one can order from Studio 58.
Consumer stores sell consumer film, makes sense... toink! Pardon my ignorance sirs.

PORTRAs are usually kept in store coolers/fridges not in ordinary storefront shelves (at least in north america) so i reckon you would start looking in the more professional kind of dealers if there are such things locally.

Just for info: Color films (negative or slide) come in as daylight or tungsten balance. Most negative films are daylight balance and so are flash output (56K kelvin).

Sir, thanks for the info. I got pretty good results from 160S.

I also used to shoot with Portra 160 if I wanted color negs.
My preferred slide film was usually either Kodak Elitechrome or Kodak 100VC (if I remember correctly).
I used to shoot b&w in the studio with Kodak TMax100 but Bengy Toda told me to shift to Verichrome Pan100. I took his advice and was a happy camper afterwards :D
Cheers!
