Sir Norman and I, plan an Intramuros shoot this coming saturday (Sept. 16) 3PM, meeting place PLM University (near Manila Bulletin)...I was asked by our moderator Nino Carandang to open a new thread for this invitation..with this, I'm sure his coming....

hi there. wow, thats a nice question...no exact plans on where to go, i should say its more of an OPEN shooting...perhaps, interested members suggestions will be appreciated....:)

its a confined space, relatively. i say go in buddy teams, depending on shared interest, go around and shoot for an hour or two, tapos meet later for a round of drinks.

there could be architectural groups (san agustin, the cathedral, fort santiago), there could be street groups (marami informal settlers dun), or there could be docu groups (take pictures of the photographers :D)...

That's what I am assuming as well. If there's no permit, we'll surely get accosted by the guards.

Yup... I think you need a permit to shoot in Intramuros..... And you can get it for P2.5K.

If you're able to get a permit, I'd like to join too.

As for the permit, I'll be going to Intramuros if not tomorrow maybe on thursday to get the permit, though I haveno idea that it will cost us 2.5K, then maybe we can share the damage...just a thought...:Scared:

Hi Red,

Just a heads up in getting the permit. They will ask for a formal/written request indicating the purpose of the shoot and the exact date, time, and places you intend to shoot. Include the names of the photographers too. :)

After submitting the request, you have to follow it up in a day or 2.

Why do we have to pay? What if we're going there as tourists? What is their policy on this?

you don't need a permit. just don't bring tripods and things (huge reflectors, etc) that make you look kinda professional. i've done debut photoshoots there w/o any problems. we even did some setups w/ mga kalesa. just don't draw too much attention to yourselves.

am also willing to share for the permit expenses.

I was able to shoot there too without any problem and no permit but shooting with a group of people all carrying highend cameras draws attention. There's nothing to loose if we get permission, right? It's better to be safe. They may or may not charge us for the permit, but in case they do charge us,I'm willing to share the expense.

i was shooting there a couple of months ago....there was a bus full of tourists....lahat sila may mga digicams...a number got slrs and tripods pa...they were shooting anything at their own leisure.

i cant believe that i - tax paying legitimate citizen - cant shoot an important part of my heritage with the same brazen freedom that these imports have!

but oh well, sige po, kuha na lang tayo permit. i read somewhere ok naman daw mag shoot sa intramuros ah, coming mismo from the administrator...(i read this in another forum dati pa...)

Hi Again- it seems to me that this is beginning to be a huge work for me getting the permit! haha...well, as what other members suggested, will go there as plan as a group like "LOCAL TOURIST" ... I dont understand the point of getting a permit of historical places and specially for local filipinos...

With this, I will try to get a permit still but if they will make it as difficult like crazy then I suggest for us to meet at as plan....then enjoy the scene as local tourist...

Also, I read the thread/email from the administrator stating that there is no need for permit.

Sorry... have to back out because if I shoot sa intramuros, I want to use gear that will definetely not pass as a tourist (tripod, big glass) and cause undue attention to the rest of the group. No worries. I'll just wait for the next opportunity. You guys have fun!

Okay, okay. Maybe we should shoot separately, perhaps in pairs, then just meet up somewhere after, say, two hours? Let's just pretend we don't know each other. =B) I'm shooting mostly buildings/architecture.

I suggest you get a permit. Had a group shot there once. Just as we started getting our out camera from our bag, a security guard suddenly appears and asks us what's the purpose of our shoot. Trying not to use the permit, we just said we'll just make some shots for practice. Still, the security guard asks if we have a permit, then we let it out. 30 mins into the shoot, one coming from the administrator's office approach us if we have a permit, we said we have a permit coming from the office. Still, he wanted to see the permit.

The permit will just allow us to shoot up to the bridge, beyond that, it is not allowed. I don't know why there is a boundery where we can only shoot, nothing significant or security risk for intramuros anyway. So the fee of 2,500 will allow you to shoot from gate to the bridge, practically the garden area only.

Oh well, mukhang madami tayo...I think paying 2,500 for a bridge shoot is too much hindi na aabot yung kit lens ko! pahiram norman! so, I suggest, we meet at PLM 3pm, then go on our separate ways and meet up after 2 hours in PLM again...with that, I dont think i'll be a big deal...perhaps we should print the thread Hochi re: letter from the admin. then perhaps they can reconsider when they refuse to allow us to shoot...saka marami naman tayong dalang tripod...Bwahahahaa....

Solid yung tripod ko -- makabali-buto. I heard yung tripod ni Chester galing pa sa studio ng tatay n'ya, kaya mabigat din. =B)

just tested the tripod guys ok lng nmn ung bigat, pero baka di ako makasama
susunod nlng ako, mag shoot kami ni dad
