forgot to mention i already have a tamron 28-200, will it make that much difference(you know what i mean)? is it still advisable to buy the 70-300?

for what purpose? 1:2 macro? more reach?
both are really poor at 300mm & are very slow but between the I'll get the Sigma

for macro shots of animals and insects. reach also. is the 100mm extra length worth it? my tamron 28-200 has a macro function as well but only at 200mm.

Roy, if you want macro - go for the 1:1 portrait|macro lenses and do not settle with any of these two: get either the Minolta 100/2.8 or Tamron 90/2.8

For -300mm reach, these lenses require lots of light (just that they are not fast enough) so don't be disappointed at first when you get one. If you can, you may would want try to hunt for the Big Beercan or Minolta 75-300/4.5-5.6 (http://www.dyxum.com/lenses/detail.asp?IDLens=52) before getting either of the Sigma or Tamron.

You have to verify it with a picture so you can compare it agains the lens DB in dyxum. I believe there are 4 versions of Min75-300, the next one worth getting is the II version. Pls see dyxum's lens DB to familiarize yourself with the versions. Cheers.

Don't waste your money on the silver one. The 75-300 is OK, but for 100 Euros for all three pieces...talk them down.
