Why bother with other sites when you got DPP? :)

Okay, I'll be nice. You may want to look up our colleagues over at PiPho--pinoyphotography.org

Now I can tell you that DPP Nikonians are a solid bunch.

PiPho is a large site with a lot of members.

I don't like the way they have their technical fora categorized though. If all I have is Nikon equipment, I don't want to see threads related to other brands. It's a chore trying to weed through them that I just gave up. Also, they are heavily moderated.

They have a very good critique section though.

Thank God I found DPP!

Nice comments guys.

Anderson, when Niino and I were laying out the magazine, we had a difficult time choosing photos from the 2nd EB. We were telling ourselves that not only are these guys a strong bunch, they could bloody well shoot also. These guys can hold their own anywhere. Just check out Issue 04.

Actually Raffy this was pointed out in the EB with Anderson...

However of course they have to take into consideration the logistics, permissions and politics of it as well, so it's not an easy step to them considering the current restructuring priority, but it might come... It just needs further study, perhaps...

In Japan, this is a reality... We call it the "Nikkor Club"... We have this EBs, shooting events, lectures, nametags etc. But it's really an official club under the Nikon wing...:)

It's fine with me price and quality as long as tatagal sya kahit malabhan ng 100x. Another way of doing it is have an embroidered logo and we can buy our own black shirt and have them stitched on. I have the Nikonians.org logo which I had stitched on a black shirt. It's black background with orange letters and a camera image....

Maganda rin yung emroidered logo. www.nikonians.org (http://www.nikonians.org) has one as well (I got one when I got the nikonians OPTECH strap:)) You can stich (or velcro) the patch to your bag or camera strap. That way we can be identified as part of the "nikon club" without everyone of us wearing the T-shirt when we go out and shoot. IMHO, better we have logos stiched to our bags or gears than, say 20 of us going out for a fun shoot wearing the same shirts. But that's just me :).

Agree with everyone. DPP has probably the cream of the crop of the Nikon users in the Philippines. I am Thailand based but I always frequent DPP and the Nikon threads here to get some ideas about my current D200.

BTW everyone loves Nikon. Even Canon users.

Hi Guys,

I agree that there should be a Nikon Club here in the Philippines. We can even ask Mr. Anderson Tan to be one of our sponsors. Let's start with the ID, T-Shirt, nametags, patch, stickers, jackets etc. I think we should also have our own set of officers. What do you think? We can also get accreditation from Nikon Japan as one of their affiliates and supporters overseas. Together we stand and United we become a strong force. More power to Nikon Jedi Knights.

I just want to share that upon deciding my first DSLR - I contemplated on which to get - a Canon EOS350D or a Nikon D50, with the following considerations:

- sensor (Nikon CCD vs. Canon CMOS)
- size (canon is smaller)
- image quality (6.0mp CCD is better than 8.0mp CMOS :))

Its clear that Canon only got one out of the three... :)

Thanks for the warm welcome :)

am I worthy? I've been an P&S user for a while now. I'm thinking of upgrading to DSLR and I know what I should get. An entry level camera. the question is: Canon or Nikon? I know it's all about preferences but I cannot formulate any conclusion since I never used a DSLR. I'm leaning towards Canon but I should also look into the dark side. So now, Sith Lords, I need to learn the true power of Nikon. I need your IMO's.

Its good to know i'm one of you guys.

I share same decisions with carlo when i bought my D50 and in addition, the price

I even tried comparing RebelTxt(350d) vs D70s vs D50. Technically, I can see minimal advantage on the 350d and D70s vs D50.

Having electronics background, CCD is better than CMOS  though it drains much power, it has higher image quality and less susceptible to noise.

im all for the NIKON CLUB pero sana PHILIPPINES and not MANILA only... kasi nasa baguio ako eh... :)

same sentiment Ali, Davao boys kami but like what i said, the Dark Side of the force is strong in us . . .

STAR WARS pala kasi, black usually ang mga Nikon Bodies, Nikon Lens . . . and we all owe it to Henri Cartier-Bresson, for all to know, he started the black camera bodies because when he was doing street photography with a silver body before, light would bounce right of it and often ruining the shot so he opted for a black body para di na mag reflect ang light from the camera body . . .

I believe we really are a solid bunch, as Sir Nick pointed out. :)

Just wondering, is there a Nikon Club in the country? If not, what if we organize one?

...we can have a membership ID that can also serve as our nametag during actual EBs / activities. Just thinking out loud.:)

this is OUT LOUD. nice. i 2nd to this.

Hi, fellow nikon user here. I own a D50. I think the seller was trying to cheat me when he was selling me my first DLSR. Now I think I should have paid him extra for the nice recommendation. Hehe

Agree with everyone. DPP has probably the cream of the crop of the Nikon users in the Philippines. I am Thailand based but I always frequent DPP and the Nikon threads here to get some ideas about my current D200.

BTW everyone loves Nikon. Even Canon users.

Take a look here. (Sorry for the plug)

You can proceed to the latter messages to see what they're talking about:

Frankly speaking, Nikon has good colors. I am not very technically well-versed but I just know (and feel) that the Nikon colours are more truthful and engaging.

Comments?

sorry this may be ot, guess it's just worth noting;

funny if you read the thread. you can easily tell how most of the forumers there feel superior over others - yet they can't figure out how a filipino has done it perfectly.

one even replied "I heard the guys in those small islands are good shooters."

well, they should visit us here in dpp & see for themselves!

more power to the dark side of phil photography!

Honestly, OT or not what you've said certainly makes perfect sense. :)

Heh heh heh. I believe that post about the guys in the small islands being good shooters was by the sharpest shooter himself, Romy Ocon. I have to double check but I believe it was him. And yes, I agree with everything that you said!
