View Full Version : fujifilm finepix f31fd lei_acacio 12-16-2007, 05:47 PM guys, have you tried this digicam?? how was it? ok po ba yung image quality & features?? feel free to post sample pictures took by your f31. teehee :) David Tong 12-16-2007, 06:24 PM There are quite a few reviews of the "last of the great P&S sensor" Fuji... I suggest you just google it as even DPreview has a comprehensive review about it. dino_de_leon 12-17-2007, 11:09 AM i got myself a s6000fd...said to share the same sensor as with this one and the f30...for a P&S i'm really satisfied with its performance...is0800 still perfectly usable...above it, your pushing its limit lei_acacio 12-17-2007, 06:10 PM i've read the review of f31 in dpreview. i just wanna ask user opinion's that's why. :) store warranty lang ba talaga ang fujifilm cameras? kahit sa malls na?? what's the local manufacturer of fuji here in phils?? ykl po ba?? lei_acacio 12-17-2007, 06:14 PM ...durable po ba fuji? or it depends talaga sa pagamit?? i'm scared na magaya sya sa past digicams ko na slight lang nasagi yung lens eh nagkanda-loko-loko na yung resulting picture David Tong 12-17-2007, 07:18 PM Forum rules: English only, thanks.. We've had the F30 for quite some time now and works fine... About reliability, not sure coz none of my old P&S cams had issues despite my really rough handing. Lastly, Fuji is not manufactured in teh Phil... I think only some of Pentaxes are... Or do you mean "distributor"? lei_acacio 12-18-2007, 08:12 PM ok. my apologies. i bought the f31 model! yey! i'm currently charging it. i hope to have lots of fun w/ it. :D btw, thanks for answering my queries. :) David Tong 12-18-2007, 09:20 PM Don't you just hate the cost of xD card grr... Too bad the new f50 (uses SD) no longer shares the design of the f30/31 as the noise control no longer is an advantage after cramming that many pixels into the same sensor... As dpreview have said, they've given up the challenge of creating the cleanest sensor in favor of competing the MP marketing race :( dino_de_leon 12-19-2007, 11:54 AM lei, congratulations for getting one of the more legendary P&S ever! enjoy your new toy...i am currently enjoying mine (different model but same sensor) and can't wait to test it in my 4-day hike to Mt. Ugu this December! danny, yeah the cost of XD here sucks...i got mine in the US...retails for roughly P1+K for a 1GB card...got myself 2...price here is just ridiculous! Jonathan Dael 12-20-2007, 08:20 PM congrats on your new f31fd. i really pushed my sister to get that cam when she was looking for a p&s. she never gave up looking and finally found one despite being discontinued by fuji. i'd definitely buy one if ever i find one. for me, just like the old olympus xa/xa2, it's the point and shoot camera professional photographers bring when they're on vacation. :D not that i'm a professional.. but still.. :) AndrewTungBorlongan 12-25-2007, 11:30 AM Merry Christmas guys! i know this is a bit OT, but i've been wanting a unique P&S to accompany my retro looking Sony W1, how is the f50fd and is it a better buy than the f31fd? thanks! Happy Holidays! David Tong 12-25-2007, 12:38 PM Andrew: Unfortunately, no... The F50fd is nowhere close to the photographic prowess of the f30/f31.... I'm still looking for a f31 myself, but it's no longer available in SG. There is a f40 released (8.3mp) and reviews are pretty good but it's a dumbed down version of the f31 with more MP (no Tv/Av settings). Amazon should still have f31... FelixRamos 12-25-2007, 10:37 PM @David I'm also looking for F31..sadly..even at ebay...its getting expensive... David Tong 12-26-2007, 10:10 AM Felix: Yes, I think the current Amazon price is 20% higher that when it was first launched. AndrewTungBorlongan 12-27-2007, 01:18 AM Andrew: Unfortunately, no... I was able to get mine around 3 weeks ago. It's currently on sale as part of Fuji Phils, Christmas promo. It's at 30% discount. If I'm not mistaken the promo ends today. I believe it's original price is 22k plus, and i got it for 19k plus. The F30 is at 18k plus, and the F20 is at 17k plus. All at sale prices @ 30% off. All use the same Super CCD Fuji sensor. I've been convincing my dad to get one too. But if he can't find a F31fd, an excellent alternative is the F30 which has a slightly better lower noise at higher ISO compared to the F31fd. But in terms of overall, indoor and outdoor image quality, the F31fd is the hands down winner. It took me 2 weeks to find one, I almost had my mom and sister get me one in the states, when they were there. But sad to say, in Amazon the price of the F30 and F31 are much more expensive if not slightly cheaper than the sale price here in Manila. Which is why I ended up buying one here. My impressions so far: 1. Superb low light capablities. ISO 800 has relatively low noise. Fantastic for a P&S. 2. Very fast focusing even in lowlight coditions. Compared to my previous Nikon P5000, this thing is a Ferrari. 3. Don't be diswayed by the low megapixel count of 6.0mega. The sensor of this camera is legendary. It uses a Super CCD sensor, which unfortunately Fuji decided to stop producing because they felt the pressure to keep up with the megapixel count bandwagon. 4. Colors are very vibrant. Which Fuji is known for especially with their S Pro line of DSLRs. 5. Video capabilities, is not bad at all. 6. The battery is super long lasting. I haven't charged it yet, since its first initial charge. 7. The menu functions, are not as user friendly as the other newer P&S cams in the market. 8. My only gripe, is it not having a viewfinder. Especially if you are shooting outdoors. This is the best P&S I've had sofar, in terms of image qualities. I bring this alot when I want to be on stealth mode, and I'm attending private functions with family and friends, and I don't want to lug around with my DSLR. Finally, all I can say is that this is one Legendary Camera. It's sensor is the best that was made for a P&S by Fuji. Focusing, is really fast for a P&S. Image quality is really great. Check out Dpreview's image rating. It is only one of a few cameras that was given a 9.0 by dpreview. It has even out rated other DSLRs in terms of getting a higher image rating. Check out Dpreview's F31fd review: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/fujifilmf31fd/ Just don't take my word for it. This is a highly recommended camera. Absolutely no regrets and I'm loving every bit of this amazing photographic wonder. P.S. If you can't find a F31Fd anymore, do consider a Fuji S6000fd. It also has the same sensor and IQ as the F31fd. Shoots in RAW. Only downside, is it's quite big. Its a prosumer size, which means you can't pocket it around. Lei was convinced when she visited my sample images at http://www.pbase.com/noligabilo/finepix_f31fd. I presently have the F40fd but I still recommend the F31fd. It's cleaner especially at higher ISOs. I have sample images with the F40fd at http://isabtang.multiply.com. Good luck and may you have a wonderful year ahead! David Tong 12-31-2007, 09:55 AM Dang, that's still a bit expensive... We got our f30 last summer for about 10K from Amazon... lei_acacio 12-31-2007, 08:33 PM Dang, that's still a bit expensive... We got our f30 last summer for about 10K from Amazon... wohoa!!! the f30 is only 10k at amazon?! that's a total steal!!! haha! super mega low price compared to the malls. David Tong 12-31-2007, 11:08 PM Yup, we got two at that time, gave one to my mother in law and sold the other one... Didn't need a P&S at that time, wish I kept it grrr... We got it for 230 back then... Goodness, they're selling the f30 and f31 at almost twice the cost of the f40/50 in Amazon right now... http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B000EJVWGS/ref=dp_olp_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1199113370&sr=8-2 miguelmartinez 01-01-2008, 02:53 PM where can we buy this?:) how about f50fd? how does this compare to the canon digital ixus 870is? canon also has good low light performance David Tong 01-01-2008, 03:19 PM Not even close, the Fuji super CCD sensor is unparalleled with low-light high iso performance in compact cams. miggydonida 01-01-2008, 11:36 PM The Fuji F31fd is still being sold in Amazon. Hahahaha. :D But get a load of these prices.. This just goes to show how much in demand the F31fd still is. Since they are no longer in production, this is a classic example of the law of supply and demand. Condition: USED -- $733.01 + shipping REFURBISHED -- $499.99 + shipping Link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B000L9SCIW/ref=dp_olp_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1199201248&sr=1-2 Im glad I was able to get mine at 30% discount during the Xmas sale of Fuji Phils. Unfortunately, for those who are considering of getting one here in Manila, you will be very hard pressed to find one. Second is if you do find one, you will most probably get it at 23k as the sale promo ended last Jan 31, 2007. David Tong 01-02-2008, 12:11 AM I was shocked as well, the f31 costing more than the G9 hehe miggydonida 01-02-2008, 12:12 AM Here are some sample shots of my Fuji F31fd taken in lowlight conditions all at ISO 800, handheld with no Flash. Notice the low noise, and the good balance of colors. Not bad for a point and shoot. :) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v212/neomaster888/DSCF0267.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v212/neomaster888/DSCF0262.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v212/neomaster888/DSCF0583.jpg lei_acacio 01-02-2008, 07:55 PM nice shots sir! i also got mine at 30% discount (christmas promo). the saleslady said that the f31 unit w/c i bought is their last stock! oh.oh. good luck for the f31 hunters!! it's really extinct nowadays! :D Robert Cheng 01-11-2008, 05:30 AM Am pretty impressed with my Fuji F30. Shot from a moving taxi at ISO 1600. Straight from the camera. Shot that normally I would have missed bec I don't lug my SLR around all the time. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2255/2183272025_99dabe0f80.jpg FelixRamos 01-11-2008, 06:59 PM :( grrrr... whatttt its on sale last december :(..tsk.. cant find one.. out of stock... lei_acacio 01-13-2008, 06:12 PM :( grrrr... whatttt its on sale last december :(..tsk.. cant find one.. out of stock... i've seen an f31fd last week @ fujifilm sm north edsa cyberzone! i guess they have stocks of f31fd... |
