There are quite a few reviews of the "last of the great P&S sensor" Fuji... I suggest you just google it as even DPreview has a comprehensive review about it.

i got myself a s6000fd...said to share the same sensor as with this one and the f30...for a P&S i'm really satisfied with its performance...is0800 still perfectly usable...above it, your pushing its limit

We've had the F30 for quite some time now and works fine... About reliability, not sure coz none of my old P&S cams had issues despite my really rough handing.

Lastly, Fuji is not manufactured in teh Phil... I think only some of Pentaxes are... Or do you mean "distributor"?

Don't you just hate the cost of xD card grr... Too bad the new f50 (uses SD) no longer shares the design of the f30/31 as the noise control no longer is an advantage after cramming that many pixels into the same sensor...

As dpreview have said, they've given up the challenge of creating the cleanest sensor in favor of competing the MP marketing race :(

yeah the cost of XD here sucks...i got mine in the US...retails for roughly P1+K for a 1GB card...got myself 2...price here is just ridiculous!

congrats on your new f31fd. i really pushed my sister to get that cam when she was looking for a p&s. she never gave up looking and finally found one despite being discontinued by fuji. i'd definitely buy one if ever i find one. for me, just like the old olympus xa/xa2, it's the point and shoot camera professional photographers bring when they're on vacation. :D not that i'm a professional.. but still.. :)

There is a f40 released (8.3mp) and reviews are pretty good but it's a dumbed down version of the f31 with more MP (no Tv/Av settings).

The F31fd is still available in FujiFilm Stores around the Metro, especially in Malls. I was able to get mine around 3 weeks ago. It's currently on sale as part of Fuji Phils, Christmas promo. It's at 30% discount. If I'm not mistaken the promo ends today.

I believe it's original price is 22k plus, and i got it for 19k plus. The F30 is at 18k plus, and the F20 is at 17k plus. All at sale prices @ 30% off. All use the same Super CCD Fuji sensor.

I've been convincing my dad to get one too. But if he can't find a F31fd, an excellent alternative is the F30 which has a slightly better lower noise at higher ISO compared to the F31fd. But in terms of overall, indoor and outdoor image quality, the F31fd is the hands down winner.

It took me 2 weeks to find one, I almost had my mom and sister get me one in the states, when they were there. But sad to say, in Amazon the price of the F30 and F31 are much more expensive if not slightly cheaper than the sale price here in Manila. Which is why I ended up buying one here.

My impressions so far:

1. Superb low light capablities. ISO 800 has relatively low noise. Fantastic for a P&S.
2. Very fast focusing even in lowlight coditions. Compared to my previous Nikon P5000, this thing is a Ferrari.
3. Don't be diswayed by the low megapixel count of 6.0mega. The sensor of this camera is legendary. It uses a Super CCD sensor, which unfortunately Fuji decided to stop producing because they felt the pressure to keep up with the megapixel count bandwagon.
4. Colors are very vibrant. Which Fuji is known for especially with their S Pro line of DSLRs.
5. Video capabilities, is not bad at all.
6. The battery is super long lasting. I haven't charged it yet, since its first initial charge.
7. The menu functions, are not as user friendly as the other newer P&S cams in the market.
8. My only gripe, is it not having a viewfinder. Especially if you are shooting outdoors.

This is the best P&S I've had sofar, in terms of image qualities. I bring this alot when I want to be on stealth mode, and I'm attending private functions with family and friends, and I don't want to lug around with my DSLR.

Finally, all I can say is that this is one Legendary Camera. It's sensor is the best that was made for a P&S by Fuji. Focusing, is really fast for a P&S. Image quality is really great. Check out Dpreview's image rating. It is only one of a few cameras that was given a 9.0 by dpreview. It has even out rated other DSLRs in terms of getting a higher image rating.

I'm glad you are happy with this model. Lei was convinced when she visited my sample images at http://www.pbase.com/noligabilo/finepix_f31fd. I presently have the F40fd but I still recommend the F31fd. It's cleaner especially at higher ISOs. I have sample images with the F40fd at http://isabtang.multiply.com. Yup, we got two at that time, gave one to my mother in law and sold the other one... Didn't need a P&S at that time, wish I kept it grrr... We got it for 230 back then...

Not even close, the Fuji super CCD sensor is unparalleled with low-light high iso performance in compact cams.

Im glad I was able to get mine at 30% discount during the Xmas sale of Fuji Phils. Unfortunately, for those who are considering of getting one here in Manila, you will be very hard pressed to find one. Second is if you do find one, you will most probably get it at 23k as the sale promo ended last Jan 31, 2007.

Am pretty impressed with my Fuji F30. Shot from a moving taxi at ISO 1600. Straight from the camera. Shot that normally I would have missed bec I don't lug my SLR around all the time.
