View Full Version : NIKON PHILIPPINES "Columbia Digital Sales Co."
Anderson Tan 09-09-2006, 02:59 PM Dear Nikonians,
It was very nice to finally meet some of you.
The meeting went quite well. Below are the improvements that CDSC will implement and deliver. We will do it slowly but surely. One step at a time...
Service:
1. We will be having loaner units by mid Sept. Priority for pro Nikonians who use their camera for a living. Those who want to avail of a loaner unit must present a valid wedding photographer, studio owner, etc. calling card and ID. Also a memorandum/contract for the loaner unit has to be signed.
2. We will be running a new robust and efficient computer system by Dec 06 or Jan 07.
3. We will now start stocking on spare parts that are in demand to increase speed of service.
4. We will not be accepting grey market warranty. This is hurting us badly.
5. Only lenses will be accepted for international warranty. Meaning lenses bought from other countries. Not in the grey market locally.
6. We have just invested in a huge amount of new tools for Nikon products.
7. We will be sending 4 of our technicians to Nikon HK by next month for further training.
8. We will make a drop off point, showroom and photo gallery at Columbia Hidalgo before the year ends.
9. Spare parts prices have already been reduced 5-10%. Depending on the spare part.
Marketing:
1. We will reduce the SRP of incoming products in Oct 06.
2. We will be having a launching party sometime in Oct. All Nikonians are invited.
3. We will be coming out with print ads, magazines and billboard by Oct, Nov, Dec 06 to promote Nikon in the Philippines.
4. We will be tieing up with Energizer for our Coolpix range. Meaning, ads and events that you will see in the near future feature both Nikon and Energizer since the L5 and L6 will be using Energizer AA rechargeable batteries.
5. We will coordinate EB's with you guys.
6. We will try to come up with events for Nikonians. Exhibits, contests, etc.
7. We already have our new website: www.columbiadigital.net (http://www.columbiadigital.net) which is almost 100% done.
8. CRM, CRM, CRM...
Any suggestions on how we can keep in touch with customers besides this forum? CRM is very important in our era.
ian_santos 09-09-2006, 03:25 PM Although I wasn't able to attend the EB, I would like to thank you Mr. Tan. I hope all will go well with your plans for the Service and Support of Nikon here in the Philippines. :)

Mabuhay ka Anderson! can you please provide your company address? Thanks

orlando_arcelao_jr 09-09-2006, 04:14 PM Wow! This is really a good news for a Nikonian like myself! :)

We will be looking forward towards the movement of these plans with an open mind... As long as your company sets into motion the changes that are needed... Raffy Crucillo 09-09-2006, 06:26 PM Great work, everyone.
Marton_Benitez 09-09-2006, 06:30 PM Finally! :) Thank you sir!
chewychua 09-09-2006, 06:32 PM hi anderson! the company i work for has a sister company that specializes in CRM. I'll pm you about this.
oh yeah, there are more and more nikonians in our office now :)
levi lacandula 09-09-2006, 06:41 PM thanks alot anderson. im pretty sure you've made a lot of Nikonians smile today:)
and i bet with the better service... there would be a lot of switchers from the other camps:Grin:
willie de vera 09-09-2006, 11:25 PM Thanks Anderson for really listening to the suggestions voiced out during the eb. One reason why a lot of newbies to photography think twice before buying a Nikon camera, to start their system with, is the bad servicing reputation of the previous company. We can now spread the word about this development and thus gain more users to our fold. We look forward to more support from you. Now the light seemed brighter on our side.:)
dodie_legaspi 09-10-2006, 09:28 AM thats why we are called the few and the brave .:) hope we're not called fewer next time. I hope there will be more service centers in major locations. These committments are good news.lets wait and see whats next. :)
karlo_inigo_lucas 09-10-2006, 12:14 PM good job guys! :D
don't forget to establish your presence here in Cebu! :)
tj_parpan 09-10-2006, 02:58 PM Many thanks Anderson. Your initial efforts are truly appreciated. As mentioned, the Nikon Forum here on DPP is a great consumer research tool for you. We'll be more than willing to help give feedback to make a this a great relationship. And you said it, CRM, CRM, CRM! That's what our company specilaizes in by the way. :)
randy_galang 09-11-2006, 09:36 AM way to go, Anderson! :) haven't been here for a month. Glad to hear the good news!!! Yey!!!!!! Nikon rules!!!
manny_illana 09-11-2006, 10:29 AM More power to you and your company Anderson.
Jun_Tengco 09-11-2006, 12:42 PM Yes, Finally! Thanks Mr. Anderson Tan for your efforts in addressing the needs of the Nikonians!
Marty Sordilla 09-11-2006, 01:31 PM This is good news, but I just called Columbia Digtal and they said that they have never replaced a D50 shutter before and therefore will not do it.
OH MY GOD!!! Who then will replace it once my shutter dies?
jason_buera 09-11-2006, 02:08 PM Yahoo!!!! Go Nikon!!! :)
Vince_Villamin 09-11-2006, 02:17 PM This is really good news for all of us :) Thanks to Mr. Anderson
mikeli 09-11-2006, 05:11 PM Yahoooo......Nikon all the way
louie_lao 09-11-2006, 05:13 PM Thank you once again Mr. Anderson Tan for hearing us out. :)
Lyndon_L_Ong 09-11-2006, 06:15 PM 4. We will not be accepting grey market warranty. This is hurting us badly.
5. Only lenses will be accepted for international warranty. Meaning lenses bought from other countries. Not in the grey market locally.
I believe 80-90% of the Nikon eqipment here are bought thru grey market. So how will they go about this???
Anyhow, Kudos to our fellow Nikonians there in Manila for the continuous clamor! Finally! we've been heard!
Thank you Mr. Tan!
Jerry Sagmaquen 09-11-2006, 07:35 PM A great first step!
Carlo R. Lopez 09-11-2006, 07:41 PM great job sir anderson. i agree though that a nikon whether grey market or warrantied should be serviced. maybe the fees of the grey market should be considerably higher but their repair or service should not be turned down. nor should their servicing be given less priority than warrantied nikons. i do not know how you will address this but it would be prudent to consider and be for everyones best interest
Nick Tuason 09-11-2006, 08:06 PM Just wanted to inform you guys that we had the opportunity to meet with Anderson personally today and had a very productive meeting. I believe you are going to see some serious changes and strong moves with Columbia Global moving forward. Anderson is young and is very creative. He also likes to feel the "beat of the street" and I believe you are going to see some serious interaction from him with DPP members. This is going to be a good time for Nikon users in the Philippines.

I totally agree with you Carlo...
I work for a car dealership here in the south. Although we have a memo from our principal mandating us that not to service these surplus vehicles from Japan, we can't really shove them away!!! As long as we can service their complaints, except for those auto tranny and gas engines that have different parts than the commercial ones, then we will definitely service them but charge them with a higher flat rate! Additional income pa rin to!
I hope that Mr Anderson will really be beating the streets here because its been several years already since Nikon Marketing and Services here in the Philippines are virtually absent!
But with these latest developments, I'm definitely Hopeful!!!!
Earl Gonzalez 09-11-2006, 08:59 PM Anderson, "Be like the trees amidst the storm; and swing with the wind... But do not break!" :)
More Power Bro! Kaya mo yan! :D
Anderson Tan 09-11-2006, 09:15 PM Thanks for believing in me everyone. I will do my best.
We will still think about what to do with grey market servicing. Please stand by...

COLUMBIA GLOBAL is dead...
Nick Tuason 09-11-2006, 09:22 PM Sorry Anderson.
Everyone get used to the new name COLUMBIA DIGITAL cause we're going to hear lots of it from now on.
Marty Sordilla 09-11-2006, 09:47 PM I am really pleased with this development. I have always been a nikonian, even before buying a nikon DSLR. Anyways, I will stick to Nikon since the new company Columbia Digital is taking the lead in ensuring customers receive exceptional quality service. More POWER Anderson! Thank you.

u can bet on that my friend... with the better after sales service... the playing field is now leveled (somewhat:) ). im pretty sure there would be a lot of switchers (or at least they think about shifting to nikon):)
tj_parpan 09-11-2006, 10:25 PM I wouldn't be surprised if we got some switchers!

Just kidding, Din.
pio sugay 09-12-2006, 03:35 PM i'm sure the D80 and 18-200VR combo with good service would be very tempting for a lot of switchers.
for the 4th nikon EB, we may need a venue to fit 1,000 nikonians :) :)

Marton_Benitez 09-13-2006, 01:15 AM Great work! :) Mr. T!
Where does one go for servicing and repairs under columbia digital sales co.?
nap_alcedo 09-13-2006, 09:52 AM Great work! :) Mr. T!

According to Anderson, during our meeting last week, repairs and servicing will be done in their main office in the Santo Domingo church area, just beyond the YKL lab in Quezon City. He hopes to put up drop off points in the future, with Hidalgo as one of these.

when you say serviced what do you mean? somethings not working or just a tune up and maintenance work?
jesse_herrera 09-15-2006, 08:59 AM yey! we are all looking forward to that!
Marton_Benitez 09-15-2006, 10:00 AM when you say serviced what do you mean? somethings not working or just a tune up and maintenance work?
Its working, just not at peak performance :) My pics have a slight tilt and my af assist illuminator doesn't work sometimes. I held up bringing it to be serviced cause I was waiting for word on columbia digital :)

Anderson, you may want to reconsider this as the reason why I bought from the grey market and also from columbia (because the grey market didnt have the invty) and from abroad is because I was told that the old service sucked and the premium you pay for is wasted...will expectantly wait for your reply... meanwhile...great enws for all of us... and thanks.

I have first hand experience of a die-hard Canon user switching to Nikon... been a Nikon user myself since film days...:)

Tristan Khalil Singkala 05-03-2007, 10:01 AM Hello Nikonians and Hello To Mr. Anderson,
I am please to know that Nikon is now having its support and repair center here in the Philippines!
I have a Nikon Coolpix L3 sent to me by my Aunt from the US as a birthday gift. But recently, I've been experiencing problem. As I search the internet, someone said that it may be due to the shutter. And now, I'm so desperate to look for a repair center.
Anderson, do you have a drop point in Davao City? There are some Columbia office in the city, especially near Ateneo de Davao University. Can I bring my camera there so that they can send it to your main office? Or will I be the one to send it directly in your office?
By the way, this camera haven't reach a year yet (to me), I still have the box and the warranty paper. But I have seen in the Nikon support website that warranty is ONLY valid in the place of purchase. And even if I have the warranty paper, I don't have the proof of purchase (because it was bought in US and sent to me by my Aunt). I really love my camera, in fact, I've already taken lots of pics with it (see my online gallery at http://www.bytephoto.com/photopost/showgallery.php?ppuser=8627 ) and there's an upcoming event here and I needed a camera.
So please help me sir Anderson... You may email me at khalil09boi@yahoo.com
thanks and more power to COLUMBIA Digital and NIKON!!!
Tristan Khalil
