Randall Cipriano 12-07-2007, 06:13 PM I was just looking at the roadmap again, and I was wondering if anyone here knows when the 35mm macro limited and the plain 35mm will be available? We'll probably know more in January. Tokina already announced their version of the 35 Macro which essentially uses the Pentax optical blueprint just like the 10-17, 16-50 and 50-135. Michael_Arcilla 12-07-2007, 06:36 PM Okay. I'm just looking for alternatives to the 31/1.8 Limited (Which I can't afford right now) and the FA35/2 (which I can't find anywhere locally.) It's available in HK for less tha P14K  Michael_Arcilla 12-07-2007, 07:05 PM Which one, the 31 limited?? Seriously?? WHO'S COMING HOME FROM HONG KONG THIS CHRISTMAS?? :D Randall Cipriano 12-07-2007, 08:26 PM Which one, the 31 limited?? Seriously?? WHO'S COMING HOME FROM HONG KONG THIS CHRISTMAS?? :D Asa pa tayo! Haha! I meant the FA 35mm f/2 AL hehe! The FA31mm f/1.8 L Silver is around P36K, while the black version is somewhere around P38K. Michael_Arcilla 12-07-2007, 08:32 PM Asa pa tayo! Haha! And the limiteds are a lot cheaper pala there, no? I called up Sanly on a price for it and they quoted me at 61,600 for the 31/1.8. The 77/1.8 Ltd naman, 46,200. Insane! But at 36K, I could very realistically save up for that... Randall Cipriano 12-07-2007, 08:44 PM How's the IQ of it? Will I always be searching and pining for the limited? The FA31mm f/1.8 Limited isn't considered as the one of the best prime lenses ever produced for nothing. :) http://www.luminous-landscape.com/columns/sm-02-05-02.shtml But when it comes to the best autofocus lenses in the world, whether for a viewfinder camera or SLRs, it's still Zeiss and Pentax, baby, same as the old days. Alan.Gurling 12-07-2007, 09:18 PM The FA31mm f/1.8 L Silver is around P36K, while the black version is somewhere around P38K. I would be very much interested in specifics on where I can grab this deal. The price is half of what I can purchase from, here in the U.K. Hong Kong, man, the price alone plus the airfare is still cheaper! LoL If there was only one lens I would want to use, it would be this. Many thanks for the information! He's actually the reason I lusted after the 31/1.8 in the first place. But will I be okay with the 35/2? At nearly half the price, it's tempting for a hobbyist. :) Edwin Falconi 12-08-2007, 06:35 AM I know, I was reading Mike Johnston many many years before I even picked up my first camera. At nearly half the price, it's tempting for a hobbyist. :) In the dpreview forum, a long time Pentaxian said that the 35/2 is an insanely sharp lens but lacks the 'soul' of the 31/1.8. Still waiting for my 31 to arrive :). Michael_Arcilla 12-08-2007, 01:30 PM Hm. That gives me pause. ... Fine, fine. 31/1.8 it is. It'll just have to be a much longer wait. :( When are you getting yours, and where'd you order it from? :) |
