Hey how about the HSM version of this lens:( Ronald Suello 12-04-2007, 04:39 PM JTPhotoWorld: 18-50/2.8 EX DC macro HSM Php26,500.00 (Nikon only) ryanhayudini 12-04-2007, 08:16 PM I think they are just the same, they just provided HSM for Nikon mounts to accomodate D40/x owners so the award is shared na din hehehe Rodel Ramos 12-05-2007, 07:21 PM I think they are just the same, they just provided HSM for Nikon mounts to accomodate D40/x owners so the award is shared na din hehehe does that mean if im not using D40/x pwede na yung non-HSM model. How much is the difference in price between the non HSM and HSM version? junjunlomotan 12-05-2007, 08:53 PM does that mean if im not using D40/x pwede na yung non-HSM model. How much is the difference in price between the non HSM and HSM version? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- @ Rodel Yep. You can mount the non-HSM version to other nikon bodies (except D40/D40x). If you are using D80, autofocus with the non-HSM version will be driven by the motor inside the cam. Cheers! junjunlomotan 12-05-2007, 10:50 PM ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- @ Rodel Yep. You can mount the non-HSM version to other nikon bodies. Period. Hehe!:) Cheers! roelgerona 01-14-2008, 10:16 AM Just bought mine last week off eBAY for $541 including shipping to NZ.... hopefully I get a good copy (sabi ko test munan nila bago ship).... also bought the 70-300mm APO DG Macro. I sold my kit lens to acquire these to lenses.... hehehe not bad at all LOL. Haay can't wait for my glasses to arrive. :-) ryanhayudini 01-14-2008, 01:18 PM roel - congrats! OT: my bro is in Gisborne Edilbert S. Corsame 01-14-2008, 01:26 PM i have the earlier version (without the macro): 18-50 mm EX DC f/2.8. Got it just last december from hidalgo for 17,500.. brand new, 1 year warranty (special sale price- kakilala kasi). Is there a major difference from the macro version (aside of course from the macro capability)? ciao! dexterchua 01-14-2008, 03:03 PM @edilbert from what i understand, the macro version, although not a true macro lens, is just marketing jibber jabber used by sigma to indicate that the lens can focus closer than usual. the Sigma 18-50mm 2.8 EX HSM Macro can get the magnification ratio of 1:3, where its non-Macro brethren has a ration of 1:3.5 Edilbert S. So you mean there's really no difference in terms of image quality, sharpness, etc? That's good to hear. i don't really need it to be macro since i have a dedicated 1:1 macro lens anyway, hehe. well then, if that's the case, i think i got my sigma 18-50 EX DC for a very good price of 17,500. ciao! roelgerona 01-15-2008, 05:48 AM roel - congrats! OT: my bro is in Gisborne Hi Ryan, Really? that's about 4 hours drive from my place... got a call from my wife that the 70-300 lens arrived. yeah can't wait to go home to check it out. @Edilbert, I think there's a slight enhancement on focusing, as the Macro version is noticibly faster and a bit sharper on some focal lenghts based on reviews i've read so I decided to get the Macro version which is a bit more expensive but duh still far far cheaper than the L counterpart... if you have the extra money why not go for the newer one? regards, Roel augustine c. mendoza 02-15-2008, 11:15 PM Thanks for the info Dexter. The macro model is the newer version of the 18-50. It has better optics. So the answer is YES there is a difference in the IQ produced. The newer Sigma 18-50 EX Macro is sharper than it's predecessor. That's the reason for the price differencial. glennvillarosa 03-20-2008, 06:53 PM posting sample pics http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2412/2345156006_83b24e2086.jpg?v=0 http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2348/2345157874_587be742d0.jpg?v=0 http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2262/2344318787_5693e378b4.jpg?v=0 |
