Hi,

I just want to share with you all what I've personally discovered with this lens. I've known about the fast focusing, wonderful bokeh, sharpness, & low light capability before I bought it but little did I know that it also had excellent color and contrast. Kala ko kapareho lang ng ibang kong Nikkors -which is not bad at all.

I don't know how to describe it but the color and contrast is almost surreal (at least for me). My daughter even calls it "Winnie the Pooh colors" (I don't know if you've seen that WTP DVD).

Anyway, I've had a chance to compare it with another lens over the weekend.
Below is a couple of shots with the 50mm 1.8 taken @ f/4.0 (supposed to be a sweet spot for this lens)

Below are the ones taken with the 200mm VR @f2.8. (Similar scene - you can see the fence in the above pictures)

I know the focal lengths are different (medyo tinamad na akong lumapit) but still...

There were no post processing done with the files. Only resized it for posting.

What do you think?

Regards.

Sir ang layo ng colors ng 200mm f/2 set at f2.8. I wish I had as much money as you for expensive gear.

it's the same WB?,
If yes, maybe because of the lens coating?or maybe dahil sa mahal ang lens na yan

it's just my two cents....

I think this comparison would properly contradict that 'Indian Pana' statement.

@Brent
What is the "Indian Pana" statement ?

It's a popular phrase commonly used to encourage photography enthusiasts that it is not the pana(camera gears) that matters, it's the indian(photographer)! ;)

Still drooling for that 200mm f/2... :D

Zandy, Don't test anymore... The 70-200 VR will definitely blow that 200mm f/2 away... :D ha ha ha...

PS: The above statement is absolute wishful thinking and a product of imagination based on sour graping...
