I saw a few posts on CLS but can't seem to find those forums anymore. Anyway I hope more CLS users would post their photos in this thread. Zaldy?? I think was one of those who posted his shots on CLS. Here are couple of mine taken last year for a publicity stint. Photos were taken in Sunset Blvd. and CSUN.

Wow Pocholo! Really nice captures you got there. I wish I could go out more and take pictures of those types of subjects. :RedEye: I'll even do it for free :Grin:
For now, I just have my kids as my test subjects

Here's a couple using a pair of SB800's shot through an umbrella

excuse my ignorance but what exactly is cls?

Here's an overview;

Nikon Creative Lighting System (http://www.olegnovikov.com/technical/nikoncls/cls.shtml).

It has some elements of Canon's own E-TTL system by using pre-flash to compute the proper flash illumnination. One notable feature that makes it different from Canon is the ability for CLS equipped bodies to control flash units off camera without need for additional accessories (like the Canon ST-E2).

Where do you buy those umbrellas which you could use with the sb800 or sb600?

Zandy - nice shots. I like the soft / even light. Was the umbrella shoot through or bounce?

Melvin - any shoot through / bounce umbrella would work. You just need a way to mount it, say a tilt bracket? Wilson has lots of these and so does Aperture.

Here's another one with Hollywood model Natasha. Can you guess how many speedlights I used? Taken at Sunset:

4-5? Am I correct?

I just watch nikon school "The speed of light" with Joe Mcnally, it was pretty cool :) So a few more Sb800s are on my wishlist as well as some stands, diffusers and softboxes

Actually I used 5 speedlights plus the commander which was used only to fire the off-shoe units. The 3 units instantly vissible from the shades of the guy were fired through a diffusion panel similar to perspex. The left most was in a shoot through and the one inside the elevator was with its supplied diffuser.

Thanks for the comments guys. So where are your shots? Here's one more:

Can't get more portable than SB800s. I wish I had more funds for more flash units.

Hey Poch,

Haven't seen you in a while under water!! Those are great pics!! Mind if you give me a few tips on using CLS? Just got my basic gear recently. Didn't even know you had a studio.
