Noob here :) need question about calibrating my monitor, pc user here.
I have read the thread, but I was hoping I could set it up using colorimeters. Problem is, I dont have the slightest idea where I can get one. Any suggestions would be great here. Thanks

I'm a PC user as well... So what can I do to help? You can be more specific...

PS: You can PM me if you want to type in Japanese... Best Regards. :)

Nice ! guess this would be fine, not that good with nihongo yet.

anyway, i have a Canon i9950, haven't calibrated my monitor yet(crt), and i get different outputs on my prints. its usually too dark as compared to my monitor.
how can I fix this ?
and i've just read from the threads about using tools, such as "monaco optix xr,Gretag Macbeth Eye One Design System, etc." What is it ? Do I need them ?
where can i get them locally ?

Better Ken although I am now going to change your log in so that your first name comes first.

To answer your questions:
1) Suggest you purchase our Issue 03 in National Bookstore- Glorietta or Greenbelt or Fully Booked stores. We have review of the Spyder and where to get them here.

2) The Canon 9950 printer is very good. If you're prints are too dark then almost certain that your monitor is too bright. Try darkening your monitor a fair amount. At the beginning you may not get used to the new darkness of the monitor but your eyes will adjust and then it will look normal to you.

These are monitor calibration devices that measure the colour temperature of your monitor... These will help you produce accurate colour rendition like WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) from your monitor to your preferred output device, as well as while you're using your favorite photo editing software... These also have applications that may help you in managing your colour profiles...

As for where it might be available locally... In this aspect, I cannot assist you since I get my stuff either online or in Japan coz it's more cost effective for me that way. :)

You would have hard time finding the NEC. I don't think it is here. NEC makes a very very good monitor. I would suggest the Apple Cinema displays or the high-end Viewsonic that you can find here. Dell also now has some really good monitors in the country now so you may want to check them out.

NEC sometimes go by the Mitsubishi brand... So you might want to check on that as well.:)
